Frequently Asked Questions

A.
Terrific Tuesdays?

Q. What is your illness policy?
A. We do have an illness policy that is found in our Parent Handbook. Parents should keep children home if they have not been fever free, diarrhea free, or vomiting free for twenty-four hours prior to attending Kid's Crossing (free of symptoms means that the child has not been given medications, such as Motrin, to mask the symptoms). Children who have a constant runny nose or cough should be kept home. Sometimes a child will want to come to Kid's Crossing because he/she does not want to miss a special event or friends, however, most children will be cranky, lethargic, whiny, and/or aggressive and do not enjoy their day at school. Most apparent is that unwanted germs will expose other children and staff. If you suspect your child is contagious, KEEP THEM HOME where he/she will be more comfortable and not spread germs. Parents will be notified should their child become ill at Kid's Crossing and will be expected to pick the ill child up promptly.

Q. Do you have a registration fee?
A.  There is a registration fee of $25.00 due with registration form as well as a supply fee of $30.00 due with registration and again in January of each year.

Q. Does my child need to bring a lunch for PDO?
A.
All children in our program will need to bring with them each day a nutritious snack (including a drink) and a nutritious lunch (including a drink).  Children enrolled in our extended care program should bring a second snack (with drink) that will be served in the afternoon.  Teachers will ensure that children do not share food (this can be a health hazard because of allergies).

Since parents are providing all food that is served to their children while in the care of Kid’s Crossing, the staff of Kid’s Crossing is not responsible for the nutritional value or for meeting the child’s daily food needs.

We encourage you to carefully consider what you provide for your child’s nutrition.  You can find a “Food Guide Pyramid” in the parent handbook to help you in making those decisions.

Q. Can I put my child on your waiting list?
A. Registration for the next year will be in February.  Families of Canton FUMC and families with children in the current program are eligible for early registration.  Registration is then open to the public.

A non-refundable registration fee and fall supply fee must accompany the registration form.  When the classes are full, names will be placed on a waiting list to be called when a vacancy occurs.

Q. What are your hours?
A. We are in session Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Q. How is tuition paid and you offer make up days?
A.
Tuition is due monthly and credit is not given for a child’s absence.  This includes childhood illnesses, family vacations and holidays.  Payment is due on the first day of class each month.  A late fee ($10) will be charged for fees not received by the 10th of the month.  Your tuition may be mailed to the First United Methodist Church or you may bring checks directly to the Kid’s Crossing office.  Please, make checks payable to “Kid’s Crossing at FUMC”

Q. What is your policy for school cancellation due to weather?
A. Kid's Crossing is closed when the Canton School District closes due to snow or icy weather conditions. Parents should listen to their local news station or radio station to learn if Canton Schools are closed.

A. Yes (more info)

Q. How long has your organization existed?
